    Margot Carpenter

    SENIOR CARTOGRAPHER (Maine)

    Margot (she/her) is an award-winning cartographer and the founder of Hartdale Maps. Since 2017, she has worked on a variety of custom cartographic projects for printed materials, interpretive panels, and tourism literature. Margot has a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems, Master of Science in Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor of Environmental Design.

    Stephen Engle

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Colorado)

    Steve (he/him) has 25 years experience in the geospatial industry. He is a Geographer by training and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Middlebury College and Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand), respectively. One of his core strengths is identifying and implementing custom mapping solutions for clients that weave together the most appropriate tools, technologies, and approaches.

    Enock Glidden

    OUTDOOR ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST & EDUCATOR (Maine)

    An avid and accomplished outdoorsman who was born with a disability, Enock (he/him) is a passionate advocate for making trails more accessible for all. Enock works directly with trail managers to assess both physical and communications barriers that can be minimized or eliminated to make those experiences more accessible and welcoming for everyone.

    Nicole Grohoski

    SENIOR GIS SPECIALIST & CARTOGRAPHER (Maine)

    Nicole (she/her) has over 15 years professional experience in digital mapping and has worked with Community Geographics since 2005. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and brings wider experience working as a GIS Specialist in the higher education, non-profit, and corporate sectors. When not making maps, she serves as a Maine State Senator.

    Nicole Keating

    CARTOGRAPHER & GIS SPECIALIST (New York)

    Nicole (she/her) joined the Community Geographics team in 2022. She has nearly 10 years of experience creating maps and designing science communications materials for land conservation and recreation organizations. After graduating from Hamilton College in 2015 with a degree in Environmental Studies, Nicole spent several years providing GIS support to The Nature Conservancy in New York and Maine.

    GIS & INTERACTIVE MAPPING SPECIALIST (Maine)

    Hope (she/her) joined the Community Geographics team in 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Colby College and a Master’s degree from College of the Atlantic. Hope supports multiple trails projects, including web mapping, data management, municipal GIS, and helping to manage Maine Trail Finder. Hope has authored two kid's hiking guides, and enjoys getting out on trail as much as possible.

    OUTDOOR INCLUSION SPECIALIST (Maine)

    Kara (she/her) has focused her career on creating experiences that inspire and equip people to create communities that are more healthy, equitable, just and sustainable, for people and nature alike. Prior to joining Community Geographics, she was the Executive Director of Portland Trails for 10 years. She chairs an international team of colleagues who are using trails in towns and cities as tools to address climate, equity, health, and transportation challenges.

    Otto

    CAR-DOG-RAPHER & WELLNESS COORDINATOR (Colorado)

    Otto (he/sit/paw/woof) joined the team in 2022. He is a rescue from Oklahoma who now lives in Denver. He coordinates with all other staff cardographers to ensure that their humans step away from their desks and go for mid-day walks. He joins a long list of current and former office dogs: Tess, Roxy, Finn, Ziggy, Shiloh, Izzy, Mooky, Nicco, Fisher, Raven, Gus, Hoodoo, Kaya.
